jspw1to2 conversion utility (ver 1.1.7) for DW4.01/UD4.01, MX, MX2004
Basics & UserInterface Issues

Jspw1to2 is DEFUNCT - now see jspwTo3.

Jspw1to2 has been replaced by jspwTo3.

This command will convert a page full of JustSo Picture Window behaviors to JustSo Picture Window2 behaviors. It requires that JustSo Picture Window2 be installed. So now if you have a JustSo Photo Album1 or simply a page with the original version of JustSo Picture Windows, you can easily convert them to the Safari-compatible, loaded-with-options-version of JustSo Picture Window2.

(This utility will work on behaviors it finds in <img> tags, <a> tags and imagemap <area> tags.)

Basics & the User Interface:

First off, you need to add a jspw2 behavior to your page to act as a "model" or "seed" for the conversion process. During the subsequent processing, all of the settings in this temporary jspw2 behavior (other than the imagename of course) will be transferred to the new jspw2 behaviors.

It is important that you get the temporary jspw2 popup looking just the way you want - or as we say, "just so" - before proceeding with the utility. You will be able to alter each individual jspw2 behavior later, but it sure is easier to get a page full of them all perfect now.

To add this "model" behavior":

  • Add a random bit text to your page.
  • Select that text, add "#" (without the quotes) or any other link to it's Link field and then apply a jspw2 behavior to the resulting <a> tag. As noted above, make this jspw2 behavior look "just so" before proceeding.

Now simply open the Commands menu and select "jspw1to2", which will open:

jspw1to2 User Interface

When you click OK:

  • All the jspw1 behaviors on the page (those within Editable Regsions for Template-based pages) will be converted to jspw2 behaviors (which may mean that jspw1 behaviors which were originally applied to <img> tags rather than to their surrounding <a> tags will be moved to those <a> tags - and <a> tags will even be created for this purpose if necessary.) The original Event type will be used as well ("onClick", "onMouseover" etc)
  • The jspw1 script (either in the Head itself or its call to an external script) will be removed from the Head (unless there are remaining jspw1 function calls on the page for some reason).
  • It will also optionally automatically remove the temporary object/jspw2 behavior you added to the page before running this utility.

Note: jspw1to2 will use the first jspw2 behavior if finds on the page. It is best to have but a single "model" jspw2 to be sure you get the results you expect.

As you see in the image above, you may also elect to override some of your "model" jspw2 settings by retaining each of your original jspw1's individual:

  • Alt tag text
  • Background color
  • Fullscreen/hugmargin settings

Use thumb's Alt tag... You may also opt to transfer the Alt tag (if present) of the THUMBNAIL image to jspw2 popup image.

Remove temporary jspw2... If you applied jspw2 to a temporary object it can be removed automatically if you wish.

Version history :

1.1.7 a) Turns out that DW has a bug in its extension environment - it fails to encode commas properly. If your jspw1 field's Title field or your thumbnail image's Alt tag contains a comma, and if you elected to use these fields in your newly created jspw2 behaviors, then the jspw2 popup image will fail to display properly. This version resolves this by properly encoding the commas turning the jspw conversion process. b) The path to vwd_scripts/jspw2x.js needs to be manually corrected for the proper document-relative path to the site root, so, e.g. If your document is in a folder below the site root: '<script language="JavaScript" src="../vwd_scripts/jspw2x.js"></script>' This will be fixed in the next update.

1.1.5 fixed a problem handling multiple imagemaps on one image. Earlier versions may return an error message "The object is not currently contained in a document."
